Organizers are anticipating hundreds of attendees over a two-day period when the Austin Texas Antique Postcard & Paper Americana Show and Sale occurs Saturday and Sunday, March 10-11. This is the 2012 Edition of the Austin Texas Show and Sale, produced by Jim Taylor and CourthouseSquare.net.
Antique postcard and paper buyers and sellers enjoy two days of shopping, selling and trading. Thousands of pre-1940, original historic photos and postcards of towns and historical events are sorted alphabetically by town and priced individually, or in lots. Additionally rare, vintage Halloween, Santa, patriotic and more postcards and paper items are available at this event.
“This is a fun show for our vendors and customers. There is always something going on in Austin, to keep everyone busy,” said Jim Taylor, show organizer and owner of Courthouse Square Antique Postcards. “Our south Austin location is a favorite venue and promises to bring great historical and fun postcards and photos to the collectors.”
Attendees are invited to enter display boards of their collections in a competition for “Best of Show” award, which includes a $ 50 gift certificate. A highlight of this show is a former Houston resident?s lifelong 30,000 postcard collection being broken up and offered for sale; including over 3,000 different Texas views.
Buyers and sellers from seven states bring nearly a million antique postcards for sale at the Postcard and Paper Americana Show. They also buy collections and accumulations and give free appraisals of most all vintage postcards, old photographs, and paper ephemera.
Vendors are bringing original historical photographs of Texas, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Civil War, Western American, Route 66, mining, sports, political, maps, Native Americans, rodeo, movie, railroadiana, Oklahoma and Indian Territory, Victorian era, Kewpies, 101 Ranch, Border War and thousands of other topical and state view postcards. Other historical paper memorabilia and ephemera are also for sale.
?Early bird? admission starts at 9 a.m., Saturday, and is $ 5, per person, and covers both days. Regular admission is $ 3 per person, available beginning at 10 a.m.; it too covers both days.
Show times are 10 a.m. ? 6 p.m., Saturday, March 10; and 10 a.m. ? 4 p.m., Sunday, March 11.
The show is scheduled for Wyndham Garden Hotel – Austin, 3401 S. Interstate 35 @ Woodward Street, Austin.
